Plant Choice

I chose none of the plants in my garden,
though they were all picked "off the shelf".
I did choose just where to place them,
but each plant then decides for itself!

They wither or thrive or spread to one side
underground, so that I cannot see them.
And some hate their neighbours so much
that they poison the soil as a stratagem.

Garden centres limit choice just as much as they provide it.
I would be lost without them, and Nurseries and enthusiasts.
